The Directorate of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), Tamil Nadu, operating under the Housing and Urban Development Department, is inviting applications for multiple expert positions in its Master Plan Unit (MPU). This initiative supports the development of 129 GIS-based Master Plans across Tamil Nadu, excluding the Chennai Metropolitan Area.
About DTCP and the Master Plan Unit (MPU)
DTCP is the apex urban and regional planning authority for Tamil Nadu. With 37 district offices, it plays a key role in sustainable infrastructure planning and land use management. In line with its ambitious planning agenda, DTCP has established a specialized Master Plan Unit to oversee and support GIS-integrated planning initiatives.
The MPU comprises urban planners, GIS professionals, and technical experts responsible for:
- Evaluating base maps and socio-economic surveys
- Developing zoning proposals and infrastructure strategies
- Aligning plans with statutory regulations
- Supporting broader initiatives like Land Pooling Area Development Scheme (LPADS), Transit-Oriented Development (TOD), and Local Area Plans (LAPs)
